Those Darned Old Audiobooks on Tape
You may ask, why do I want to find an audiobook on cassette tape? While cassette tapes are old technology and not supported by current listening devices, there are still a few good reasons why you might be looking for audiobooks on cassettes.
Here are the 3 major reasons:
If you have a cassette tape player (like in your car) you may want to find some audio book titles on tape - and you may not care about particular titles as long as they play decently.
Sometimes the particular audiobook only exists in tape format. For whatever reason, the particular book, speech or perhaps radio program was recorded on cassette tape and never re-recorded or re-mastered to the newer formats.
Similar to the above issue, you may be searching for an audiobook recorded by a particular narrator. For example, say your really prefer a noted narrator with a unique voice or reading style. Alternatively, maybe there was at one time a recording by the book's author who may since have passed away.
If such an audiobook only exists in cassette tape format, and you can locate it, then you can buy it and later have it transferred to mp3 or CD format.
Audible has a large Used Audio Book section where you might locate these tapes. eBay, craigslist.com and other web-sites may be worth a shot in your searching for these "out-of-print" recordings. Good Luck to you!
